I’m not a confident mum — should I still book a motherhood session?
Many mothers quietly believe motherhood photography is for other women.
The confident ones.
The camera-ready ones.
The ones who always feel comfortable being seen.
If that’s not you, you might be wondering if this experience is really meant for you at all.
Confidence is not a requirement
You do not need to know what to do. You do not need to feel confident. You do not need to feel ‘ready’.
Most of the mothers I photograph tell me they feel awkward, nervous, or unsure beforehand. Some say they avoid photos altogether.
That doesn’t disqualify you — it’s exactly why these sessions exist.
This is about how it feels, not how it looks. You are never asked to pose or perform. There is no pressure to get it right.
You’re guided gently, given space to breathe, and allowed to simply be with your child.
Often, confidence doesn’t come before the session — it comes after, when you see yourself through your child’s eyes.
If you’re hesitating, ask yourself this
When you imagine looking back in years to come, what will matter more: That you felt perfectly confident — or that you were there?
You don’t need to be brave. You just need to show up as you are.
